Abstract

Indiarubber is vulcanized by being immersed in a mould in a bath of glycerine of a grade having a flash point not lower than 384 DEG F., and heating said bath to a vulcanizing temperature from 270 DEG F. upwards, but never higher than within 50 DEG F. of the flash point of the glycerine. A preferred method of carrying the invention into effect consists in vulcanizing indiarubber hose by extruding the hose into and with a lead sheathing, winding the sheathed hose on a drum, filling the hose with water and immersing the drum in a bath of electrically heated glycerine.
