Abstract

346,432. Cleaning bottles &c. HILL ENGINEERING CO. (HULL), Ltd., T., 247, Beverley Road, and HILL, G. F., 90, Marlborough Avenue, both in Hull. Jan. 9, 1930, No. 800. [Class 138 (i).] Apparatus for cleaning and reconditioning bottles, jars, and like containers of the kind in which a rinsing operation is effected by a rotating head comprises means consisting of one or more jets from flexible nozzles 12, Fig. 1, mounted for rotation about a common vertical axis 19 on a head 10 rotated by a chain conveyer 11. Preferably, the conveyer is of the type described in Specification 338,377, [Class 78 (i), Conveyers &c.]. The conveyer chain 25, Fig. 4, extends in multiple flight within a tank 34 from one set of guide pulleys to another and so to the rinsing head 10 and down again. The apparatus is driven by worm gearing driving the shaft carrying the pulleys 29. There are four vertical shafts, two sets being behind the two shown on the Figure. The rotating head 10 has a number of flexible nozzles 12 communicating with a conduit 13, Fig. 1, which is in communication for 90‹ of revolution with a passage 22, Fig. 3, connected to a water or steam inlet 21. A fibre washer 20, Fig. 1, assists in making joint. The bottles are carried in trays 15 linked to the chain 11 at 16 and guided on rails 17.
