346,412. Trays, salvers, and like supports. MOND, A. L., 19, Southampton Buildings, London.-(R÷mmler Akt.-Ges., H.; Spremberg, Prussia, Germany.) Nov. 12, 1929, No. 34503. [Class 128.] A tray, salver, or like support, which may be inverted to serve as an iron stand or a chopping- board, comprises a body b consisting of a plurality of layers of fibrous material, such as paper, fabric, or asbestos, impregnated with artificial resin, and a frame or rim a integral or attached to the body and consisting of or containing artificial resin. The resin may be obtained by the condensation of phenols with formaldehyde. The body and rim may be made and finished separately under the combined action of heat and pressure and then connected together, e.g. by screwing or riveting, they may be preliminarily pressed separately and then united by a final pressing, or the complete tray may be made in a single operation, in which case a depression in the mould corresponding to the rim is filled with artificial resin, the impregnated fibrous material is laid in the body of the mould, and the body and rim are then united by heat and pressure. The body b may be provided with an ornamental covering sheet or with a reinforcing bottom c. Handles d may be attached to the rim or may be pressed into the material while the rim is being moulded.
