Abstract
343,858. Carriers for pneumatic dispatch apparatus. LAMSON PNEUMATIC TUBE CO., Ltd. and BURL, H., 132, Cheapside, London. June 19, 1930, No. 18776. [Class 116.] A carrier particularly for transferring fragile cylindrical articles such as phonograph records, comprises a central mandrel or support 6 and a detachable buffer lid 10 adapted to engage and to be secured to the mandrel to hold the article in position. The carrier 4 is closed at one end bv the circular felt buffer 5, to which is secured the preferably cylindrical central mandrel 6, which is provided with two bayonet grooves 13 engaging pins 12 on the cap 11, which depends from the felt buffer 10. Linings 7, 8 and washers 14, 15 of felt are provided. The mandrel may be secured to the underside of the lid and may be detachably locked to the bottom of the cylinder, and if hollow may be used to accommodate papers &c., while the bayonet joint 13 may be replaced by any alternative fastening.
