Abstract

Compositions for use as varnishes for gut, especifor strings of lawn tennis rackets, comprise solutions of higher fatty acid esters of cellulose such as cellulose di-stearate in xylol. Fatty or mineral oils, waxes, and artificial or synthetic resins may be added. The Provisional Specification describes also compositions containing higher fatty acid esters of carbohydrates of the general formula (C6H10O5)n.
