Abstract
342,598. Clutches. JUNKERS, H., 21, Kaiserplatz, Dessau, Anhalt, Germany, April 1, 1930, No. 10362. Convention date, April 13, 1929. [Class 80 (ii).] . A venting device for use with overload-release clutches containing liquids under pressure, adapted to remove air automatically as to keep the receptacle full of liquid, comprises a chamber 16 communicating by a passage 15 with the liquid chamber and containing a piston 17 channelled at 20 and pressed by a spring 19 arranged so that when air is passing the resistance of the passages is such that the piston is not moved, but when liquid is passing the increased resistance causes the pressure to rise so that the piston is moved back to close the exit 18. The clutch comprises pistons 7 bearing by rollers 8 on a cam rim 5. Torque is transmitted when the liquid in the cylinders 6 is under pressure. By means of valves 11, 12 communicating with a liquid chamber 13, pressure release at a predetermined point is obtained so that not more than a certain torque can be transmitted.
