Abstract

342,517. Heating buildings. HAPPEL, O. 45, K÷nigsallee, Bochum, Germany. Jan. 29, 1930, No. 3100. Convention date, April 22, 1929. [Class 64 (ii)]. Steam engine exhaust is supplied to a water-cooled condenser, and the water heated therein is pumped through air heaters in hothouses, blowers circulating air at high velocity through the heaters. A turbogenerator 2, 3 has, in addition to the usual condenser 4, a supplementary condenser 4<1>, to which the required quantity of steam is taken from the turbine through pipe 6. The heated cooling water is driven through a pipe 6<11> to the air heaters 5, which are formed of ribbed elliptical tubes and returned to the condenser through a pipe 6<1>. The blower drives air at high velocity through each heater, and the hot air may pass directly into the house, or into the pipe 10 having openings 11. The air may be moistened and the efficiency of the condensers improved by spraying water into the stream of air being sucked in.
