Abstract

342,419. Medical electrodes and radioactive appliances. OFFENBACHER, S., 125, Nymphenburgerstrasse, Munich, Germany. Nov. 20, 1929, No. 35499. [Class 81 (ii).] An electrode for therapeutic treatment with highfrequency currents consists of a cushion or the like having a flexible rubber cover and filled with solid padding material. The padding may consist of lametta, brocade, or metal shavings and constitute the conductor, or a flexible conductor of wire fabric or foil may be arranged between the padding and the cover. Radioactive material mav be mixed with the padding or a layer of radio-active material may be associated with the cover. An additional outer cover of leather or cloth may be used and the cushion may be incorporated in a chair or couch. Fig. 1 shows an electrode with rubber cover band conductive padding material a, and Fig. 3 an elongated electrode, for treating cavities of the body, wherein a separate flexible conducting layer g is employed.
