[Class 138 (i).] Crockery, cutlery, &c. to be washed and subsequently rinsed and sterilized by hot water, is supported in a basket in a container and subjected to the action of jets, which in known manner impinge on the plates &c. and cause rotation of the basket. The basket has a sleeve surrounding a fixed upright shaft, on which it rotates, the sleeve being enveloped in a second sleeve, integral with a discharge valve for the container. As shown, the upright shaft 8 is surrounded by the sleeve 17 attached to the basket 15, a ball bearing being provided at 14. A discharge valve 12 has attached to it a sleeve 13 which reaches upwardly to the level of the water in the container during the washing operation. A plug cock 25 is connected to a pipe 22 terminating in a strainer 23, to a pipe 29 connected to a pump 30 and to an inlet pipe 28. A handle 38 is connected to a rod 26 which operates the cock 25 and also raises or lowers the valve 12. By dropping the valve 12 on to its seating the cock 25 is operated to fill the conical bottom 3 of the container up to the required level by means of the pipes 28, 22. Thereupon the cock is turned to a second position to bring the pump into communication with the pipe 22 whereupon the washing water is discharged by the jets in pipes 33, 34, 36. After the washing has continued for the requisite time the cock 29 is operated to close the previous connection and the valve 12 is lifted off its seat to allow the water to escape by a drain pipe 7. Rinsing and sterilizing hot water is let in through the pump and jet direct.
