Abstract
341,626. Roving frames. STELL, A. and STELL, J., Park Works, Keighley, Yorkshire. Nov. 20, 1929, Nos. 35456 and 38717. [Class 120 (ii).] The spindles of roving frames of the type pivotally supported at their lower ends to swing outwards for doffing and which have conical lower bearings, are provided with ball or like antifriction bearings at their upper ends, which are retained in operative position by springs &c. The wharl 2, Fig. 2, of the spindle 3 carries the inner race a of ball bearings b, the outer race being mounted in a support 4, which with the rail 11 and conical bearings is carried by a frame 14 pivoted at 14a to swing the spindle into the position shown in broken lines for removal of the flyer assembly and of the bobbin 12. The upper hub 5a of the flyer 5 receives the inner race of a ball bearing d, the outer race of which is fixed in a serrated rim 6 held against rotation or displacement, by a spring 10, Fig. 4, engaging the serrations 6a, in a semicircular opening 7a in a support 7 on the upper rail 8 of the machine. Alternatively the rim may be held by a spring plunger or bolt operating from a recess in the side of the opening 7a. According to the second Provisional Specification, the rear edge of the opening 7a may be serrated.
