Abstract

340,758. Bottle capsules. RECHT, W., 119, West 40th Street, New York, U.S.A. Dec. 17, 1929, No. 38675. [Class 125 (iii).] Apparatus for making crown seals for bottles by filling previously formed metallic caps with a liquid adapted to form by solidification a yielding sealing medium, e.g. rubber latex, comprises an intermittently moving conveyer 4, which receives successive rows of formed caps 5, from a hopper 3, and conveys them beneath a dispensing device where they are temporarily stopped to have a predetermined quantity of the liquid discharge into them. This device consists of a tank 6, a plurality of nozzles 8 fitted with plungers 9 operated by a cam 11. The caps are then conveyed through a vulcanizing chamber 14 and finally delivered to a collecting table 15. The inflowing liquid is kept out of contact with the wall of the cap except at points below the sealing surface.
