Abstract

340,151. Greene, C. Jan. 17, 1930. Stops; holders.-A door or gate stop consists of an upright resilient member 5, Figs. 3 and 4, fixed to a base and having a wedge-shaped head 6. One of the inclined faces of the head is flush with one side of the resilient member, and the other face of the head is offset. The door bends the stop and passes over it when swinging outwardly towards the open position, as shown in Fig. 3, and bends and engages with the stop when swinging inwardly, as shown in Fig. 4. The door is released by bending the stop further to allow the door to pass it. The edge of the door may be provided with a shield 12 having a projecting part 11. In place of the helical spring 5 and separate head 6, the device may be formed out of a bent strip 18, Fig. 8. The device may be arranged horizontally to engage with the vertical edge of a door.
