Abstract
340,048. Pearson, L. H., and Randall, W. J. Sept. 30, 1929. Systems for transmitting music.-In a system comprising one or more microphones for pick-ups and an associated amplifier, variable amounts of resistance are connected to the amplifier to vary its effectiveness by means controlled from a distance by impulses. The same means may be used for connecting up the appropriate microphone, &c. Specification 332,572 [Class 40 (v), Wireless signalling &c.], is referred to. As shown, there is an impulse dial A for each microphone H. When a dial is moved off-normal, its contact c is closed and sluggish relays Rl - - R3 and the back-stroke sbepping- magnet SM are operated. During the return movement, R3 disconnects the input to the amplifier, and when the dial stops the relays fall back. A particular microphone is now connected up over LI, the input transformer is shunted by a. particular resistance over L2 and the pilot lamp of the microphone concerned is lit over L3 to a particular degree of brightness depending on the shunting resistance connected up. To restore the apparatus to normal, a number is dialled to bring L3 to the homing terminals. A similar arrangement but with only one dial is described in the Provisional Specification,
