Safes and strongrooms.-A fireproof container for inflammable articles such as films has ventilating means comprising a, wire-gauze covered aperture in or near the floor communicating with a flue leading to atmosphere, the arrangement allowing escape of gas generated within the container, but preventing ingress of flame &c. due to fire outside the chamber. The invention is applicable to containers with one or more compartments. Fig. 2 shows the application to three compartments 3 provided with doors 2 of known construction. The floor of each compartment has an aperture 4 with wire-gauze 5 leading to a floor-channel b which communicates through wire-gauze 6 with a vertical flue a leading to atmosphere through an opening covered by wire-gauze 8 and provided externally with a truncated conical baffle 9 within a perforated conical cover 12.
