Field carriages; tripod mounts for machine guns.-A mounting for heavy machine, guns comprises a braced pentagonal frame 7 having at each corner rollers 9, 10 which run on a circular track 1 fitted with vertically adjustable feet 3 for levelling purposes. Further, all-round training- gear is provided in the form of a hand-wheel 18 driving a pinion 12 which engages holes in the track, and the elevating gear comprises a handwheel 27 driving a screw 34 which operates a slider 43 forming part. of a slider-crank linkage 45, 47, the apex 46 of which is hinged to the guncarrying slide 39. The rear of this slide is connected by links 49 to the transverse brace 13 of the pentagonal frame. The gun (not shown) is connected to brackets 50, 51, which can recoil on the slide 39 against the action of helical springs. Seats and foot-rests are provided on the frame to accommodate the gunners.
