Abstract

339,202. Gas Accumulator Co. (United Kingdom), Ltd., (Assignees of Svenska Aktiebolaget Gasaccumulator). Feb. 16, 1929, [Convention date]. Lighthouse and like lamps.-In a lighthouse or like signal lamp a plurality of separate means are employed for periodically supplying gas to a burner, or to a plurality of burners constituting a single source of light, the gas supplying means being interconnected so as to operate simultaneously, and safety means preferably being provided whereby the operation of one means causes the operation of another. In the form of flasher shown in the Figure, gas from a pipe 10 enters and leaves a casing 1 through inlet and outlet ports 11, 13 and then some of it passes through pipes 12, 20, 22 to burners 21a. a pilot burner 23a being supplied with gas by means of pipes 25a connected directly to the pipe 10. The inlet and outlet ports 11, 13a are controlled bv a pivotally mounted valve member 6a associated with springs 14a, 15a and connected at 16a to a flexible diaphragm 2, whereby the flow of gas is made intermittent. The valve member 6a is also connected to a rod 35a which carries a flexible diaphragm 34a adapted to close an opening 33a in the bottom of the casing 1, and also a flexible diaphragm 32a adapted to close the'top of a chamber 31a secured to the bottom of the. casing 1. A pipe 30a leading from a chamber, similar to the chamber 31a, secured to the bottom of a second flasher, also is connected to the outlet pipe 12a, whilst a pipe 30b from the chamber 31a is connected to the outlet pipe of the second flasher. This interconnection forms a safety device whereby, should the valve member 6 not be operated by its own flexible diaphragm 2a, it is automatically operated by the auxiliary flexible diaphragm, similar to the flexible diaphragms 32a, 34a of the second flasher, and vice versa.
