338,986. Buchholz, T. May 7, 1929, [Convention date]. Divided on and addition to 338,966, under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Nov. 21, 1929. Sleepers, metal.-The swells formed according to the parent Specification are drop-forged to produce the guide ribs and at the same time the displaced metal widens the rail seat. The guide ribs may at the same time be lengthened and the roof-shaped parts of the sleeper thickened. The guide ribs may also be grooved at the same time, prior to milling and undercutting them. Gauge differences are equalized by drawing or upsetting the cross-section of the sleeper. The sleeper may also be widened at the rail seat, as shown at the right-hand end of the Figure.
