337,761. Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd., Crawford, F. A. F., and Challenor, W. A. P. May 3, 1929. Grant of patent opposed. Catalytic agents, preparation of. - A catalyst carrier is obtained by incorporating guhr with a solution of soluble silicate, precipitating gelatinous silicic acid from this solution by means of a suitable reagent such as an acid or ammonium carbonate, and drying the product to form a hard highly porous, mass. Catalysts which may be applied to the carrier are platinum, vanadium, and chromium compounds. The production of sulphur trioxide is referred to.
