Insulators.-In order to increase the bearing surface of the spring ring on the insulator in pin insulators of the type described in the parent Specification in which, to maintain the pin in position in the pin cavity, a spring ring is fitted under the pin head, an intermediate ring is inserted between the pin head and the spring ring or the diameter of the spring is increased. In the construction of Figs. 1 and 2, an intermediate ring formed in segments 14 is inserted between the pin head 16a and the spring ring 12 in the insulator pin cavity 15. A split ring 17 holds the segments 14 in position until the filling metal is poured in. In a modified construction the intermediate ring is formed in one piece and comprises a cylindrical collar which is expanded by forcing it on to the pin head. The intermediate ring is held in position by a pin member and the filling metal poured in. The increase in bearing surface may be obtained without an intermediate ring by increasing the coil diameter of the spring ring which is formed in sections held in position in the pin cavity by a spiral ring.
