Abstract
337,269. K. D. P. Ltd. Jan. 24, 1929, [Convention date]. Latex, treating.-Latex is concentrated by adding thereto mucilages or similar substances adapted to combine with water without previous hydrolysis and heating to substantially above 60‹ C. so as to cause creaming. In examples. 100 ccs. of a 2 per cent aqueous solution of diagum are added to 1000 ccs. of a 40 per cent latex concentrate and the mixture heated by passing in steam or by heating in an autoclave. under pressure. As examples of mucilages are given Carragheen moss, Iceland moss and diagum. The latex may be concentrated, vulcanized or may contain fillers.
