Abstract

336,850. Cooper, S. Nov. 27, 1929. Coin action, mechanical - connection; receiving devices for house doors and the like.-In a device for enabling parcels to be delivered through a door, wall, &c., of the kind comprising flaplike members pivotally attached to the door, &c., to lie flat against or substantially parallel with it, which flaps are moved to form a box-like structure behind an aperture in the door when a shutter covering the aperture is opened, and which collapse again when the shutter is closed, the shutter 17 is locked when closed by a detent 41, Fig. 6, pulled by a spring 43 to engage a projection on the shutter; and to release this detent a coin is inserted in a slot 45, where it is retained by a projection 51, and a button 48 is pushed in to move the coin and a thrust member 46, which latter moves and disengages the detent 41 from the shutter. The detent is held open by a trip 52 but is released by the action of a catch 58 hanging freely from the bottom flap as soon as that flap has been raised to the horizontal position. When the button is released the coin falls through a chute 49 to a receptacle. If the button is pressed when no coin is in the slot, the plunger merely passes through an opening 46<a> and does not operate the thrust member 46.
