Cigarette-making machines. - A ledger plate for the cutting- apparatus of a continuous - rod machine comprises tubular members 1 carried bv one or more flexible members, for example two flat springs 7 secured at one end 8 to the machine framing, thereby obviating the use of hinged joints requiring lubrication. The device is reciprocated by a connecting-rod 10 fitted with enclosed ball bearings. Guides 13 attached to the ledger plate slide on a rod 14, which serves to support the device if one of the springs 7 should break. Specification 318,187 is referred to.
