Abstract

300,938. Ruau, F. F., and Molins Machine Co., Ltd. Aug. 20, 1927. Cigarette-making machines.-For applying adhesive to a travelling web of paper in a machine of the continuous-rod type, the adhesive, contained in a cylinder 1, is fed continuously by a plunger 5 through a flexible pipe 7<a> to a nozzle 20<a>; this adjoins a grooved roller 21 from which the wheel 22 effects the transfer to the paper 23. The cylinder 1 is removably attached to the standard by a bayonet joint 3, and the movement of the plunger 5 is transmitted from an enginedriven shaft 8 through worm and wheel gearing. The last wheel 14 of the train is pinned to the sleeve 15 which at its upper end is in toothed engagement with the lower end of the nut 18 splined to the spindle 6. A shearing pin or like device is fitted to the pulley 10 to prevent damage to the mechanism in case of obstruction.
