Abstract
336,543. Driesbach, C. A. March 25, 1929, [Convention date]. Sand-blast; abrading-medium, article moved in, through, or similarly in contact with.-In a machine for scouring metal strips, plates or wire, the strip &c. is fed longitudinally through a chamber having therein a passage of undulating form whereby sand or other abrading-medium blown through the passage is repeatedly deflected against the surfaces of the strip &c. The passage 14 is formed between the undulating surfaces 12 of two plates 10, 11 spaced apart by gaskets 15 and clamped between transverse bars 16 and hinged bars 23 carrying clamping-screws 26, and at one end the plates 10, 11 engage, with an interposed gasket 27, two members 29 secured to a sand-supply chamber 19, from which sand is projected by a blast of air through a passage 30 formed in the members 29. At the other end the plates 10, 11 engage, with an interposed gasket 35, two members 36 having therein a passage 37 communicating with a sand-receiving chamber 20 and clamped, to press the plates 10, 11 longitudinally, by a bar 38. The strip 13 to be scoured is moved through the chamber in the direction of the arrow A.
