Condensers.-Relates to methods for carrying out the invention described in the parent Specification according to which the capacity of a condenser is given continuous variation in one direction on which is superposed a more rapid periodic variation. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the movable plates of two condensers 2, 3 are mounted on a sleeve 1 surrounding a shaft 19 and connected therewith by reduction gearing 15 - - 18. The shaft 19 carries a cam 30 actuating a rocking lever 32 which is connected to the other plates 7 of the condenser 2, which are pivoted on a rod 34. The sleeve 2 can also be rotated directly by a knob 12, a friction clutch being interposed between the sleeve and the reduction gearing. In another form, two condensers, adjustable with respect to each other, are mounted on a sleeve rotated by reduction gearing from a concentric shaft which carries an ordinary condenser, so that the latter passes through its maximum and minimum positions several times while the former are still moving in the same direction. In another form, condenser blades are mounted on a sleeve surrounding a rotating shaft and oscillating thereon. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 9, the varying element is provided by means of a condenser, one plate 115<1> or set of plates is caused to approach consisting of a sliding piece 111 with an oblique end engaging with a corresponding piece 110 on the sleeve 102. Key arrangements allow of the piece 111 to move longitudinally without rotating and the plate 115<1> and 115<2> may also be shaped as shown in Figs. 13 and 12 to give several maxima and minima in a revolution.
