Abstract

334,539. Arnold, C., (Chandler & Frice Co.). March 4, 1929. Driving gear for endless-chain conveyers and elevators with bracket carriers.-Apparatus for drying printed sheets &c. comprises a pair of endless belts 22, arms 23, and means for intermittently moving the belts as each sheet is delivered on to the arms by the discharge conveyer of a printing press. The conveyer pulleys are carried by bars 13, 14, connected by rods 11 which are carried by a frame 6. The pulleys may be horizontally adjusted in slots 19 in the bars, and the bar 14 is vertically adjustable by nuts 15. The sheets are moved downwards by adjustable levers 30 on a shaft 26 which is oscillated through linkage by a suitable moving part of the press. Spring-pressed pins on the levers 30 which engage the arms 23 are bevelled so as to ride over the arms on their upward movement. A stop-bar 40 is adjusted inwardly or outwardly according to the width of the sheets which are received on a table 3.
