Abstract
334,257. Automatic Telephone Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Gillings, C., and Paulett, W. H. May 31, 1929. Automatic exchange systems. - In a hunting type switch in which hunting is controlled by the interaction of a magnet and an interrupter relay, the interrupter relay is held operated in series with the test relay when a free circuit has been reached until the test relay has opened another point in the circuit of the stepping magnet. The invention is described as applied to a bi-directional call finder with two sets of wipers, only one set being used at a time, which is directly connected to a selector switch. Specification 334,218 is referred to. When a call is made LR operates replacing the normal earth on the wiper P by battery through CO and operating the start relay A. The calling level is marked in the bank wiped by VW. D operates to connect up the upper wiper set and relays A and B of the selector pull up to guard the line. Magnet V energizes to step the switch one vertical step and relay G pulls up over contacts V. Relay G and magnet V inter-act until the level required is reached when G remains operated in series with T to earth over the test wiper. Relay T locks.up, breaking the circuit of V, releasing G and changing over to the rotary magnet R. Relay G and magnet R then inter-act until the calling line is found when G holds up in series with H. Relay H locks to the test conductor, breads the driving magnet circuit, and switches the speaking circuit through. The first digit train is repeated by A to the vertical magnet of the selector and the switch steps to the required level. When C falls back at the end of the train magnet R operates and relay G and magnet R interact stepping the wipers until a free circuit is reached when G remains operated, in series with switching relay H. to battery over the test wire. If the finder fails to find the calling line, the finder cam springs S operate on the eleventh rotary step locking up G and H. Relay T releases and G and H fall away releasing the switch. If the selector fails to find a free outlet, the selector cam springs S operate and busy tone is returned to the calling line.
