Abstract

324,094. Automatic Telephone Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Gillings, C., and Rice, T. G. Oct. 15, 1928. Automatic exchange systems. - In a hunting switch the driving magnet (or interrupter relay controlling the driving magnet) is operated in a local circuit until an idle line is found when the test wiper potential shunts the self-interrupting electromagnet and operates the switching relay. The magnet DM of the line switch (Fig. 1) is driven by self-interruption from earth at 15 in series with resistance R. When a free line is reached battery over the test wiper P shunts DM and operates K (to earth at 15) which disconnects DM and switches through. Relay K is maintained by earth returned over P via both its windings in series to battery at DM. In Fig. 2 the group. selector hunts due to the interaction of G and RM, the circuit of G being via R1 to 116. When a free circuit is found, battery on P (such as that shown at R2) shunts G and operates switching relay H. If all circuits are busy, CS operates on the eleventh step to return busy tone from BF.
