Abstract

333,176. Buchler, F. May 3, 1929. Handles.-The ends of the spring core of a handle for a carrying case, wireless set, gramophone, or other portable article are made to cooperate directly with stops provided within or formed as part of the box-like end fittings, to limit the arching movement of the handle. ln the form shown in Fig. 1 the ends of the spring strip 4 are formed into loops 6 through which are passed wire stretchers 7, Fig. 3, which prevent the loops from being entirely withdrawn from the fittings 1. The stretchers may be replaced by fixed pins bridging the fittings. In the form shown in Fig. 7, the pin 12, which may serve to secure the fitting to the article, passes through a slot 10 formed in the end of the spring and serves as a stop. Means may be provided for maintaining the handle in the arched position; Fig. 8 shows a bearing plate formed with a rib 9<a> adapted to engage the looped end of the spring 4 for this purpose. One end of the handle may be fixed to the article.
