Abstract

332,883. Aggleton, C. Jan. 10, 1930. Measuring-tape.-A device for use in the frame of bowls comprises a pair of right-angled standards c, d, one c of which carries a spring- controlled tape or line f the free end of which is attached to the standard d. The perforated tape is mounted in a casing e. When in use the standards are placed on the ground with their vertical sides against the pack and wood respectively. The spring plunger h is then depressed causing the lower extremity to pass through one of the holes g in the tape and into the knife-edge locking aperture m in a slide j when a reading is taken. The slide is then pressed inwardly against a spring n and the plunger is retracted by its spring o. The stem of the plunger is made of square or oval crosssection and the ends of the spring o are fastened to the plunger and spring respectively. The base a has a web a<1> which is adapted to engage between two webs b<1> on the base b to enable the standards to nest together, a hinged closure latch k being arranged on one of the standards.
