Abstract

331,285. Le Barbier, E. P. L. April 6, 1929. Relief effects in kinematograph images, producing. - Kinematograph images are made by an ordinary camera having means for producing in the images bands which are more distinct than the other parts thereof, the bands being parallel to the direction of feed, sym. metrical with respect to the centre of the picture, and spaced at distances from the centre which vary progressively in a series of images. The bands may be produced by means of an opaque diaphragm displaced in front of the objective and having a series of pairs of slots differently spaced; the slots have a height equal to that of the images and a width appreciably less than half the width of the images. The diaphragm may comprise a rigid reciprocated member, an endless flexible band, or a rotary disc or ring 25 having slots 26, the slots in each case being symmetrically spaced with respect to the line on the diaphragm which travels through the optical axis of the lens.
