Air, treating with liquids.- Apparatus for treating air with liquids comprises a rotating conoidal body having its apex immersed in or supplied with liquid, and means for passing a current of air through the atomized liquid. Fig. 1 shows a humidifier comprising a casing 3, supplied with 'liquid from an inverted bottle 5, within which an externally grooved conical body 16 having its apex immersed in liquid is rotated by an electric motor 8. A'fan 19 mounted on the same shaft as the cone 16 draws air through openings 13 which after passing the spray 12 escapes through openings 14. The angle of the atomizing cone and the section of the grooves which turn either towards or away from the direction of rotation may be varied according to the character of spray required. The cone may be provided with one or more discs 18 which may be grooved on the underside. Series of grooves 103. Fig. 4, each of which terminates in a disc 104 may be provided. One or more cones may be mounted in a tower 25 through which air is drawn by a fan 30 the current being regulated by louvres 29. The level of water supply to each cone may be kept constant by a ball cock 107. The cone may be provided with vanes 78, Fig. 11, for dispersing spray. A number of cones may be mounted in series on the same shaft, Fig. 25, and water supplied to the apex of each through spray pipes 124. Fig. 28 shows a form in which two superimposed cones 125, 126 are both supplied from a sump into which the lower one dips, the lower cone having a bore 128 with an opening 129 which raises water to a sleeve 130 surrounding the apex of the upper cone.
