Diverting coins periodically; prize-delivery mechanism.-In coin-freed amusement apparatus means operated by the coin-freed mechanism interpose a deflector into the path of the inserted coins to direct one coin of a recurrent series into a collector, so that a fixed proportion of the coins is retained as rent. The invention is shown as applied to a so-called " Fruit machines." The coins normally pass down a shoot x, Fig. 2, into a prize magazine y having prize delivery slides 9, 10, 11. If this magazine is full the coin resting on the top is pushed, on operation of the machine, by a finger 1, Fig. 1, into a shoot m leading to a pool or " jack-pot " l, Fig. 3. A pawl arm a by which the main indicator wheels b are rotated has a supplementary arm or finger c which on each operation of the machine lifts a pawl arm d, Fig. 3, and thereby causes rotation of a ratchet wheel h and cam i. This cam engages an arm on a hinged cover k of the pool l, which, ,when closed, forms part of the shoot m. The cover k in closing turns a deflector 2 beneath the shoot x by means of a lever 6 and a link 5, so that the next coin from the shoot x is directed down the shoot m and over the cover k to a throat n leading to the rent box. The proportion of coins so diverted thus depends upon the number of teeth on the ratchet wheel h and the construction of the cam i. A pin 8 on the lever ,6 passes through a hole in the shoot m and prevents any other coins save those deflected by the part 2 from passing to the rent box. The .oontents of the pool l are delivered to the operator with the contents of the slide 9, a catch, which normally holds the bottom of the pool in closed position, being released by a lever operated from the slide 9, when the latter is opened.
