Condensers. - Electric variable condensers grouped in a gang are provided with means for altering the capacity of one or more, to compensate for minor inequalities, having certain of the fixed vanes mounted at a single point, with means applied at a single point for distorting them sideways towards or away from the moving vanes. In one example, Fig. 1, two vanes 6 which may be thicker than the other fixed vanes are supported only on the arm 4a and are tied by a screwed rod 9, with nuts 10 permitting the desired adjustment. The rod 9 passes through lugs 8 formed on the plates 6 extending bevond the other vanes. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4, one adjustable plate 6 only is used, supported on the bar 4a, having a reduced portion n and caused to distort as required by pressure of a screw 20. By this means any adjustment of capacity is effective over the whole range of the condenser. Specifications 298,312, 312,822; 344,863, [Group XXXVI], and 344,864, [Group XXXV], are referred to.
