Abstract

Balls.- The suspension means for an elastic playing ball comprise a plurality of cords secured to the ball and provided with central loops, the cords being so positioned that the loops are adjacent for connection to a support. As shown, the suspension means comprise a plurality of cords 16<1> that are looped and knotted centrally and have their ends arranged in either parallel or splayed formation. The ends of the cords are embedded in a thick layer of vulcanizable rubber cement 13 disposed between the core 11 and the cover 15, the loops 16 projecting outwardly through a hole in the cover. The loops are pulled to put the cords under tension during the final moulding, the knots 18 being formed subsequently and in such a manner as to maintain the tension in the cords.
