Pen stands.-In pen stands of the kind wherein a holder adapted to receive a fountain pen or the like is mounted upon a bearing comprising a ball and socket joint and means for exerting frictional pressure upon the ball to enable the holder to be retained at any angle, the socket 2, Fig. 2, screwed into a base 1, is bored to receive a portion of the ball 3 and is pressed into contact therewith by a screw 6. A metal washer 8 is preferably interposed between the cork plug and the screw. To enable the holder to be tilted in a number of directions into a horizontal position on the stand, the socket 2 is provided with equally spaced slots such as 10, Fig. 1, which receive the shank 4 of the holder.
