Abstract

329,585. Hall, F. R. Aug. 26, 1929. Cutting girdes.- In a machine for cutting section and other bars, a rotor 5 carries a fixed die 13 and a sliding die 14. The framing 1 carries a fixed die 28 and a sliding die 25. The sliding dies are spring-urged. A pin 24 on the die 25 engages a slot in a sector arm 22 attached to the die 14. A gear wheel 50 is driven continuously from an electromotor and is clutched to a cam-ring 41 by a spring-bolt 59 controlled by a slide bar 62 operated by a treadle 66. The rotor is driven by a spring-bolt 43 engaging the cam ring 41. In operation the bar is inserted and depression of the treadle 66 causes a cam on the ring 41 to cloce the dies upon the bar, and the rotor to turn to sever the bar. The tooth 43 is withdrawn from the ring 41 by cam faces on a bush 4 and the rotor is brought to zero position by springs. A brake is applied to the ring 41.
