Abstract

329,446. General Electric Co., Ltd., Randall, J. T., and Jesty, L. C. March 26, 1929. Flaming-preventers. - In gas-filled lamps, e.g. of the kind described in Specification 10918/13, flashing is prevented by interposing a metal or other conducting shield between the opposed ends of the filament 6. Two shielding discs 8, 9 may be connected respectively to the two leads 7 by wires 10, 11 and so acquire potentials that tend to prevent flashing. The filling may consist of pure argon, or a mixture of four parts of argon with one part of nitrogen. Specification 287,563 also is referred to.
