Abstract

329,018. Finlay, C. L., and Finlay Photographic Processes, Ltd. Feb. 9, 1929. Colour photography; multicolour screen processes.-To produce a combined viewing screen and a black and white positive, a three-colour viewing-screen is sensitized with a bichromated colloid layer, this layer is visually registered with a screen positive under subdued illumination, exposed, and then after soaking for a few minutes, is placed in a solution of a dye or dyes which will be absorbed by the colloid in inverse proportion to its exposure, the fully exposed parts rejecting the dye completely, to give a neutral black-andwhite image produced by a bichromated colloid process in registered association with its viewing- screen. The positive is then washed and dried. Nigrosine is instanced as a suitable dye. Other dyes which themselves do not give neutral black may be mixed with similar dyes of appropriate colour to produce the neutral black.
