Abstract

328,648. Laughey, J. Todd, J. W., and Whiteside, D. Feb. 1, 1929. Inking-apparatus. - A flexible steel blade K, Fig. 1, to co-operate with the duct roller R is adapted for attachment to an ink trough by means of a bar M to which it is secured bv screws, the bottom edge of the bar being machined so that it can be fixed upon the edge of the trough, and a pair of removable side plates S which are grooved to receive the ends of the blade co-operate with the blade to form an ink duct. The side plates S are made of cast iron, machined to fit against the duct roller R, and are held against shoulders Y thereon by screws E which pass through rigid lugs B and engage within recesses in the side plates. To prevent leakage of ink from the junction of the ends of the blade with the side plates the grooves X in the latter are filled with a pliable composition or material such as indiarubber. The bar M is secured upon the rear wall T of the ink trough by screws F, and adjusting-screws U extending through the wall bear upon the edge of the blade to regulate its distance from the duct roller R.
