Abstract

328,104. Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd., and Saunders, K. H. April 8, 1929. Leucoindigo.-The continuous production of leucoindigo is effected by passing a stream of alkaline indigo paste over a nickel catalyst on a rigid or semi-rigid support in the form of a granular, reticulate, or matted mass in presence of hydrogen under pressure. Suitable temperatures are 120-140‹ C. Examples of catalysts are nickel on nickel wool and nickel on granulated carborundum. Carriers which conduct electricity are preferable.
