Abstract
326,147. Soc. Anon. Franþaise du Ferodo. Oct. 18, 1928, [Convention date]. Blocks and shoes.-Friction facings 2 for use in clutches, brakes, &c. are secured in their supports 3, which may constitute or may be removable from the main elements, by rivets or pegs 1 formed of material capable of hardening by polymerisation such as braided asbestos impregnated with synthetic resin which may be shaped in position under heat and pressure, Fig. 1, to polymerize and harden them. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, the material is first thus hardened and then placed in position in its finished form and has imbedded therein a bifurcated metallic pin 6 which is turned down over the support 3. The pin may be replaced by an internally screwed socket in which is inserted a large-headed set-screw. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the rivet may consist of two parts of plastic material screwed together. Further, facings may be secured on opposite sides of a metallic support, the rivet consisting of tapered parts secured in holes in the two facings, the parts being secured together by a device such as is used for spring pressure buttons. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
