325,631. Bennett, A. V. Dec. 14, 1928. Instruments with sonorous bars &c., percussive.-In a keyboard instrument comprising sonorous rods 2 secured at one end, hammers 14 normally inclined downwards towards the keys are operated directly by thrust-pieces 21 fixed on the keys. The solid or hollow rods 2 are tapered at 2<a> and threaded into screws 27 in a bar 3 having flared holes 28. For portability, the keyboard and striker mechanism may slide within the box 5, the; front end being then closed by folding up the hinged cover 29. In a modification, the rods 2 are formed as spirals, and a damper is mounted on each key.
