Abstract
325,104. Howard, S., Bailey, A., and Multi-Color Dyers (1920), Ltd. Feb. 15, 1929. Applying liquids to parts only of materials; passing fluids through materials on perforated tubes; vats, construction of. - Apparatus for the parti-colour dyeing of textile materials wound on a perforated tube 20 connected to suction at 39, comprises also a receptacle, preferably formed of two separable vertical parts 2, 2<a> which is subdivided by vertical blades 28 of rubber &c. which contact in a liquid-tight manner with discs 22 on the tube 20, with the materials 24, and with the base 29 of the receptacle. The parts 2, 2<a> of the receptacle are separated and closed by a hand-wheel 12 and gearing 16, 17, 18, 6, a liquid-tight connection being obtained by beads 9 on one part entering rubbered grooves in the other part. The lower disc 22 on the tube 20 seals the base of the receptacle, and the lower end of the tube 20 is seated on a rubber ring 32 surrounding the inlet of the exhaust chamber 34, being clamped thereon by means 35, 38. A drainage valve 40 on the exhaust chamber 34 automatically opens when the liquor therein exceeds a predetermined amount. The upper edge of the container is recessed as at 42 to prevent mixing of the overflows of the dyes from the different compartments 30. When the receptacle is in one piece, the vertical blades are moved into engagement with the yarn by a ring having grooves into which pins on the blades project.
