Abstract

324,242. Hildebrandt, O. Feb. 1, 1929. Foot-arch supports. -A foot-arch support consists of a plate or frame-shaped metallic support a having on its inner side a resilient bow b between which and the opposite edge of the support a saddle member c is secured, the saddle being of inextensible and d flexible material so that when it is loaded with the foot the bow b is bent inwardly lifting the sun k metatarsal bones. The saddle c may be made of a material, e.g. a leather, which becomes plastic on treatment with a liquid, e.g. water, so that it. can be given the shape of the foot, the material hardening again on drying. The saddle may be produced with a smaller sag than usually desired, the adaptation to the required shape being effected later. The saddle c may have hook-shaped bars d, e by which it may be detachably hung between the edges of the bow b and the frame a, or it may be secured directly to the bow and frame. In other forms, the bow b may be connected to the frame a by hinges tensioned by springs, or a solid metallic support may be used of which only the portion extending upwardly at the arched side is resilient.
