Rollers, garden. -Garden rollers are provided with one or more pivoted arms carrying brushes and with springs or weights for holding the arms with the brushes in active or inactive position. The arms b may be in the form of belt-crank levers pivoted on the roller spindle a and connected by springs d to the handle e, the arrangement being such that the springs hold the brush c in operative or inoperative position according to whether they are on one or other side of the spindle a. To move the brush into inoperative position the arms b may be raised until the springs d pass the ends of the spindle, or the handle c may be swung about the spindle to carry the springs past it. Weights on the arms b may be used instead of springs. In modifications the levers b are pivoted directly on the handle c or on plates attached to the handle. 'The levers may be extended to carry a brush at both sides of the roller. Rollers h are mounted at the ends of the arms b and the brush c is adjustably connected to the arms by slotted plates i and fastenings j. Alternatively, the rollers h may be adjustably mounted. A rotary brush may be driven from the main roller or its spindle, or from the rollers h.
