Drying yarns &c. in long lengths.-A rotary steam-heated cylinder for drying yarns &c. in long lengths is provided with a detachable framework with ribs A extending across the cylinder from end to end and spaced to support the yarn &c. slightly off the cylinder. The rounded ribs A are carried by hoops B and supported inter. mediately by metal strips D. The hoops B, which may be in sections detachably connected by bolts b<1>, are clamped to the ends of the cylinder.
