Abstract

323,333. Greve, E. E., and Oil Well Supply Co. Dec. 1, 1928. Borehole apparatus.-A device for use in suspending casing &c. in well-boring operations comprises a spider 5 which may be in two parts 6, 7, and has a tapered bore; slips 13 are divided into two sets, the slips of a set being connected by hinge pins 15 and eye bolts 16, and the sets of slips being arranged in the tapered bore and being capable of being raised therein by means of a pivoted lever 17 connected to lifting members 20 which pass through the eye bolts 16. On raising the slips, rods 14 thereon, co-operating with inclined holes 11 in the spider, cause the slips to move apart out of engagement with the well casing &c. A. To adapt the device for handling smaller casings &c., one or more bushings, as 29, 33, Fig. 6, may be placed within the spider and secured thereto by bolts 28 or 32, the slips operating within the inner bushing.
