Abstract

323,186. General Electric Co., Ltd., and Forrest, F. Aug. 23, 1928. Gases, treating electrically. - Hot dust-laden ,gases are passed through a heat exchanger in which air is preheated and are simultaneously - subjected to an electric precipitation treatment. In the illustrated apparatus the hot gases entering at 11 flow through the tubes 13 containing discharge electrodes 3 and emerge at 9. The precipitated dust is collected in the hopper 10. Air to be preheated enters at 1 and flows through the .space 2 surrounding the tubes, leaving through - the pipe 4. In another modification, the apparatus is divided by parallel partitions into a number of thin flat compartments. The hot gases flow through alternate compartments, which contain discharge electrodes, while the air to be heated flows through the other series of passages. Specification 136,464 is referred to.
