Abstract
322,228. Brackenbury, E. W. June 5, 1928. Propelling by means other than adhesion driving-wheels and racks.-Land vehicles are propelled by jets of fluid directed at right angles or slightly forwardly with respect to the direction of motion, from a series of annular nozzles, over the front surface of the body or of a part secured to the body. As shown, air from a blower e is projected through a series of nozzles b - - b<4> which are adjustable, in width to suit the air density. To minimize resistances of the radiator c, it is placed within the body and air is drawn through a conduit d at approximately the same speed as the body. The fluid jets may comprise jets of steam or water and are not necessarily of the same fluid as that through which the body is passing. Specification 18935/14, [Class 4, Aeronautics], is referred to.
